When philanthropy meets evidence-based prevention, transformation happens.
Since May 2025, the partnership between the Elaine Walters Foundation (EWF) and OurFutures Institute has empowered thousands of students to make informed health choices, reaching schools that are too often left behind.
With $11,544.50 of EWF funding already activated, the collaboration has fully subsidised 61 program deliveries across 16 schools, benefiting 3,864 students in six states and territories. Many of these schools are located in regional, remote, First Nations or alternative learning settings, ensuring the students most at risk are placed front and centre in prevention efforts.

By pairing EWF’s philanthropic support with OurFutures’ matched-funding model, each dollar stretches twice as far. The initial grant has unlocked $23,089 worth of prevention programs in just 6 months, creating exponential value and measurable impact. This co-funding approach demonstrates what’s possible when strategic philanthropy aligns with research-backed education.
“This partnership shows what’s possible when philanthropy is matched with evidence-based prevention,” says Ken Wallace, CEO of OurFutures Institute.
“With just half of the original grant already activated, more than 3,800 students have received life-changing health education and together, we’re on track to increase that impact again in 2026.”
The partnership’s next phase will see the remaining $8,455.50 in Elaine Walters Foundation funding reach a projected additional 2,000 students, expanding the program’s reach into more schools across Australia.
As OurFutures continues its mission to make prevention education accessible, the Elaine Walters Foundation partnership stands as a model for impact philanthropy, accelerating equity, scale and long-term behavioural change in youth health.
